Here is my favorite chocolate cake recipe: brownies! Everyone is fond of it and asks for more.
The recipe is really easy to make. Don’t be afraid by the amount of sugar, it is necessary to obtain yummy brownies.
Bake it the day before serving, or even better, 2 days in advance.
For 12 to 16 brownies:
- 200g chocolate cut into pieces,
- 100g unsalted butter,
- 300g granulated sugar,
- 4 eggs,
- 150g all-purpose flour,
- 1 teaspoon baking powder,
- 1 pinch of salt,
- 100g chopped walnuts.
Preheat the oven to 210°C (410°F).
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Off the heat, add the butter cut into little squares and stir until it has completely melted. OR: Put the chocolate and the butter into a bowl and melt in microwave. Stir.
In a large bowl, combine the chocolate + butter mixture, sugar, eggs. Stir and add flour, baking powder, salt and chopped walnuts. Mix.
Butter a 9″x9″ square baking pan. Pour the mixture into the pan, smooth the top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 210°C (410°F) until a knife inserted into center comes out clean. If after 20 minutes of baking, the brownie top is well baked but the knife does not come out clean, cover the brownie with kitchen foil and bake for 5 additional minutes.
Remove the brownie from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack. If you used a silicone mould, you can let it cool directly in the mould.
Cut the cake into 12 to 16 squares.
You can serve the brownies with custard or vanilla ice cream.
